Minecraft 26.2 Chaos Cubed – Everything About the New Update. Sulfur Caves, Sulfur Cube and More!

Minecraft isn't slowing down. During Minecraft LIVE 2026, Mojang unveiled the second major update of the year — Chaos Cubed (26.2). The update focuses primarily on underground exploration, introducing a new biome, a unique mob, and a range of new mechanics that could significantly change the way the game is played.

Sulfur Caves – A New Biome Beneath the Surface

The biggest addition in the update is Sulfur Caves. This is a new underground biome characterized by distinctive yellow and red sulfur and cinnabar blocks. During exploration, players will encounter:

Geysers that launch players and mobs into the air,

Hot springs emitting toxic fumes,

New decorative blocks,

A completely new underground atmosphere.

Mojang aims to make cave exploration exciting again — even for experienced players.

Sulfur Cube – The Most Unusual Mob in Years

The second major addition is the Sulfur Cube. At first glance it looks like a small cube bouncing around caves, but its mechanics are unique. The mob can absorb blocks placed by the player and inherit their properties. For example:

After absorbing ice, it starts sliding across surfaces,

Different blocks change its behavior and physics,

It could become the foundation of new minigames created by the community.

This is one of the most experimental mechanics added to Minecraft in recent years.

Geysers and New Exploration Possibilities

Sulfur Caves will also feature geysers. Interestingly, they can appear on the surface as well, signaling that a new biome lies underground. Players will be able to use them for:

Fast travel,

Building adventure maps,

Creating parkours and minigames,

Transporting items and mobs.

This could open up entirely new possibilities for Minecraft server creators.

Friends List in Minecraft Java Edition

Chaos Cubed also brings a long-awaited feature for Java Edition players — a friends system. The new tool will allow players to:

Add friends directly from within the game,

Check their online status,

Join shared gameplay more easily.

This is another step by Mojang toward simplifying multiplayer.

Is It Worth Preparing Your Server for Minecraft 26.2?

Absolutely. New biomes, mechanics, and mobs will make many players want to start a fresh adventure from scratch. If you're planning to play with friends, launching your own Minecraft server is the way to go. This way you can control the world yourself, install plugins and modifications, and enjoy the update from day one. On IceHost you can launch a Minecraft server in minutes and immediately start exploring everything Chaos Cubed has to offer.

Summary

Minecraft 26.2 Chaos Cubed is one of the most interesting updates in recent years. Sulfur Caves refresh underground exploration, Sulfur Cube introduces completely new mechanics, and the friends system makes playing together easier. All signs point to summer 2026 being a very exciting time for the Minecraft community.

Of course, all the latest versions and snapshots are always available on IceHost.pl — you can upload the engine yourself or choose from the many options available in the Server Engine tab. Join IceHost.pl and enjoy exploring all the new features with your friends!

Minecraft Movie Build Challenge: Build What Will Hit the Big Screen!

Have you ever dreamed of having your Minecraft creation admired by millions of people around the world? Now you have a unique chance! The Mojang team and the creators of the upcoming movie have prepared something special — the Minecraft Movie Build Challenge. The winner of this incredible contest will see their build on the big cinema screen!

Time is very short (submissions are open only until June 7, 2026), so we've put together a quick summary of how to enter the challenge, what the rules are, and how to best prepare your project (ideally on a reliable server from IceHost.pl!).

What Is the Minecraft Movie Build Challenge?

This is an official contest in which players from around the world (aged 16 and over) who own Minecraft Bedrock Edition can submit their unique builds. The goal is to design a structure that visually fits into the world of the Minecraft movie. If your project wins, it will be incorporated into the film — for example, during the main action as the camera pans by it, or in the end credits.

Contest Rules – What You Need to Know Before You Start

Since the build has a chance to appear in a major motion picture, Mojang has prepared very specific guidelines. Before you place your first block, make sure you're familiar with the restrictions:

Dimensions: Your build must fit within a 16x16x32 block space. No building underground!

Allowed blocks: The list is limited to basic palettes and specific biomes (Frozen Ocean, Taiga, Plains, Badlands, and general blocks such as stone, wood, and glass). Nether and End blocks are not allowed!

No Redstone: The contest focuses on aesthetics. No mechanisms, automation, redstone machines, or note blocks (except for decorative use) will be judged.

Mobs: You may only use passive and neutral Overworld mobs (e.g., armadillo, chicken, frog, pig, snow golem, bee, iron golem, llama). Humanoid mobs (villagers, pillagers, witches) are strictly prohibited.

What to avoid: Any logos, words, pixel art, banners, religious or political symbols, or replicas of real-world buildings.

What Are the Prizes?

Winners won't have anything to complain about. The judging stage consists of internal verification, and in early July (July 2–5, 2026) a community vote will take place.

Here's what you can win:

15 Semi-Finalists: 2 cinema tickets to the Minecraft movie.

3 Finalists: Private screening of the film (plus tickets).

1 Winner (Grand Prize): Their build appears in the film or end credits + private screening + 2 tickets!

How to Submit Your Build

Submissions are accepted only until June 7, 2026 at 11:59 P.M. PT. To participate, you'll need to prepare:

A short video (15–30 seconds): Must include a 360-degree view of the build filmed in daylight. No shadows, shaders, night lighting, or music from outside the game. Upload the video to YouTube as "Unlisted." Your character must not be visible in the video.

A screenshot: A clear front-facing image of the build, also taken in standard daylight.

A short description: 2–3 sentences describing your concept.

Bonus: Free Cape from Twitch!

Alongside the contest, Minecraft is also giving away free capes! Simply watch any Twitch partner streamer streaming in the Minecraft category for at least 5 minutes before June 30, 2026. You'll receive a cape code directly on the platform and can redeem it on the Minecraft website.

Prepare for the Contest with IceHost.pl!

Building alone can be exhausting. Why not gather your crew and plan the project together? On IceHost.pl you can set up your own powerful Minecraft server in minutes, where you and your friends can build and test your dream 16x16x32 structure together.

Our servers guarantee smooth, lag-free gameplay — which is crucial when you're focused on every small detail and the perfect block placement for your video recording.

Time is running out! Get a server on IceHost.pl, jump into the game and build something that will go down in movie history! And once you've built something, feel free to share your screenshots on social media using the hashtag
#MinecraftMovieContest
. Good luck!

5 Mistakes Beginner Minecraft Server Admins Make

Setting up your own Minecraft server is easier today than ever before. Unfortunately, many beginner admins and operators make the same mistakes — ones that lead to lag, technical issues, and losing players.

1. Installing Too Many Plugins

One of the most common mistakes is installing dozens of plugins on day one. Every plugin consumes server resources, and some can conflict with others. At the start, it's worth limiting yourself to the essentials:

EssentialsX,

LuckPerms,

CoreProtect,

WorldEdit.

2. No Regular Backups

A drive failure, a bad update, or accidentally deleting your map can cost you months of work. Backups should be performed regularly and stored in a separate location — something you can set up easily on IceHost via the Schedule tab.

3. Outdated Software

New Minecraft versions often fix bugs and security vulnerabilities. This applies to plugins and the server engine as well. Keeping everything up to date helps maintain the stability and security of your world.

4. Too Little RAM

Many admins assume that a server for a few friends doesn't need many resources. In practice, newer Minecraft versions generate significantly more load than they did a few years ago. With more players or plugins, it's worth providing an adequate RAM buffer.

5. Ignoring Security

Open admin permissions, weak passwords, or no logging system can quickly lead to griefing or loss of control over your server. Good tools to have in place include:

LuckPerms,

CoreProtect,

Regular backups,

Restricted admin permissions.

How to Avoid Problems?

The best approach is to grow your server gradually. Instead of installing everything at once, add features as your community grows. This makes it easier to identify the source of issues and maintain high performance — while also keeping players engaged so they don't lose interest after a single day.

Summary

Most Minecraft server problems don't come from game bugs or hosting issues — they come from configuration mistakes. By avoiding the most common errors, you can create a stable world that runs smoothly even with a larger player count.

Avoiding these 5 mistakes is half the battle. The other half? The place where your server lives. You don't have to look far. At IceHost.pl we give you everything you need to get started (and much more as your community or crew grows). No hidden limits, powerful hardware, and an intuitive panel that makes management a pleasure. Stop wasting your nerves on weak machines — host your server on IceHost and play by your own rules!

Comparison of Minecraft server engines: Paper, Purpur and Fabric. Find out which one is best for your server in 2026!

Paper, Purpur or Fabric? Which Minecraft Server Engine to Choose in 2026

When setting up your own Minecraft server, you'll quickly face the question: which server software should you choose? In 2026, the most popular options are still Paper, Purpur, and Fabric — but each of them excels in a slightly different use case.

Paper – The Safe Choice for Most Servers

Paper has long been the most popular choice among server admins and operators. It delivers high performance, support for Bukkit and Spigot plugins, and numerous optimizations that keep gameplay smooth even with a larger player count.
It works best for:

Survival servers,

Economy servers,

RPG servers,

Small and medium-sized communities.

Purpur – Even More Customization

Purpur is built on top of Paper but adds a huge number of additional configuration options.
Admins can change mob behavior, game mechanics, and gameplay rules without installing extra plugins.
Purpur is often chosen by:

Public servers,

Larger communities,

Projects requiring custom mechanics and configuration.

Fabric – The Best Choice for Mods

If you're planning to run mods, Fabric remains one of the best options.
Compared to Forge, it's lighter and receives updates faster after new Minecraft versions are released.
Fabric works especially well for:

Technical modpacks,

RPG servers,

Private friend groups.

What Should You Choose?

If you're not sure where to start:

Survival or plugins → Paper

Advanced configuration → Purpur

Mods → Fabric

On IceHost servers, all three options can be launched in just a few clicks — no manual installation or file configuration needed.

Summary

There's no single perfect software for every server. The choice depends on your planned playstyle. For most players, Paper is the best starting point, while Purpur and Fabric allow you to build much more advanced projects.
Want to launch a classic survival server on Paper? Or test mods on Fabric? With us, you switch between engines with a few clicks in the panel, and you can even try a free server to see how everything works and whether it's the right fit for you. We handle the powerful hardware and lag-free experience — all you have to do is gather your crew and start building something great.

Head over to IceHost, grab your server in minutes, and play exactly the way you like!
